Tour Overview & Highlights

Description

Immerse yourself in the mountainous splendor of the Andes on an exhilarating full-day excursion to In Situ Vineyard from Santiago. With a professional guide, travel through spectacular scenery to one of the most beautiful lagoons in the Andes Mountains; capture photographs of the water’s iridescent turquoise surface and listen to poignant legends of Incan royalty. Ascend to the vertiginous altitude of Hotel Portillo ski resort; and absorb the verdant beauty of the vineyard before pleasuring your palate with wine samples.

What to expect.

Your journey into the Andes begins with pickup at your hotel in Santiago. Board a comfortable vehicle and travel north toward the towering mountain range that defines Chile's eastern frontier. Along the way, make a brief stop at a Copec service station. This a technical stop to grab a bottle of water, coffee or some stacks to bring on the way.

Continuing along Autopista Los Libertadores, marvel at the distant silhouette of Aconcagua, the highest peak in the Americas. Weather permitting, you’ll stop for photos of this majestic mountain before heading into the heart of the Andes.

Your next stop is In Situ Family Vineyards, an exceptional high-altitude winery. Savor a selection of wines while enjoying stunning views of the surrounding mountains. The experience is both relaxing and memorable, ideal for lovers of nature and wine alike.

From there, ascend the dramatic road known as *Los Caracoles*, a twisting highway of over 30 hairpin curves that climbs to 3,000 meters. Pause to capture breathtaking photos of the switchbacks and valleys below.

Soon after, you’ll reach the striking turquoise waters of the Inca Lagoon. Nestled at the base of snowcapped peaks, this serene spot is perfect for exploration and photography. You’ll have time to enjoy lunch at the historic Hotel Portillo, South America's oldest ski resort, known for hosting world-famous skiers and celebrities.

In the afternoon, visit *Ventisquero Guardia Vieja*, a charming rest stop where you can snack on fresh Chilean empanadas and even meet friendly llamas at a local farm.

The final stop of the day is *Salto del Soldado*, a dramatic canyon shrouded in legend. Learn the story of the brave soldier who leapt to safety from these cliffs as you take in the impressive rock formations.

After a full day of adventure, natural beauty, and cultural discovery, you’ll return to your hotel in Santiago with unforgettable memories of the Andes.
